For adult patients, Dr Welty will  obtain a full history  of your concerns, discuss previous evaluations and medications; obtain a medical history, family history, social history and current overall situation. You and she will develop at treatment strategy  and proceed from there.

For child and adolescent patients, Dr Welty will first discuss the parent's concern about their child or teen's emotional  issues, and will obtain the child's medical history, family history of medical or emotional  illness, social functioning, and any current or previous stressorswhich may be affecting the child or teen's functioning. Dr Welty will also usually examine the child or teen alone. The family will then meet together to discuss a treatment strategy.

The decision to begin a new medication is a n important one, and Dr Welty believes in a collaborative, cooperative approach. Risks, benefits, side effects of medications are discussed at length.  Lab tests are discussed and ordered. Copies of recent labs and physical examinations are requested.

Alternate treatments, including supplements, diets,  and complementary treatments, are discussed.

DrWelty encourages open communication and follow-ups with  the office between scheduled appointments to facilitate  the pace of medication  progress.

The timing of follow-up appointments depends  on the conditions treated, and are mutually agreed upon by Dr Welty and the patient and family.  Generally, new patients are seen every two to four weeks until stable, and then every month to three months after that. Longer-term patients can be  seen every three to six months.

Traditional therapy is usually not provided at this office, except in  a few cases.  Therapists in the community have established a good working relationship with Dr Welty, and this ongoing collaborative relationship improves our patients' progress. We will ask for a signed exchange of information form before discussing your treatment.

Cancellations and No-Shows

Your appointment is especially reserved for you. Missing appointments slows progress and the consistency of your pace and progress in treatment. On the other hand, we all know life happens.

We allow two appointments which are no-shows or  canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, after which time we will charge for the full appointment.  Please call the office is you have any questions.
